Scholarship Details

 

Thank you for your interest in applying for the Quincy Bay Race Week Association Scholarship. This year, thanks to the generous contributions of our members, we will be awarding FIVE scholarships.  Two worth $1000 and three worth $500.

The officers and trustees of the association hope to continue to offer a scholarship each year to help promote and strengthen QBRWA in the boating community.

2025 Essay Topic

Tell us about yourself and describe a time when you experienced a setback and what you learned.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the award you must be a member or child or grandchild of a member of one of the eight participating member yacht clubs and you must be accepted to pursue education beyond the secondary school level at an institution deemed accredited by the Scholarship Fund Committee. High school seniors and college undergraduates are eligible for the award.

Scholarship Format

This year’s scholarship will be awarded on an Essay. The essay must be 500 words or less. All essays will be submitted to the QBRWA Scholarship Committee for review. The winning essay will be announced at the QBRWA Race Week Awards Ceremony on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Wessagussett Yacht Club..

Is the scholarship open to the public?

Who are the essay judges? Pool

Members of the Quincy Bay Race Week Board of Directors vote to determine the scholarship winners.

Who chooses the topic?

Members of the eight participating yacht clubs can make submit scholarship essay ideas top the QBRWA Board of Directors. The BOD will pick a topic from those submitted.

Do the winners get to keep the "big check"?

Yes! Hang it proudly on your wall or fridge for all to see!
