QBRWA is pleased to announce the 2026 Scholarships. This year we will be awarding five scholarships. They are:
$1000 Funded by QBRWA
$1000 Funded by Liberty Bay Credit Union
$1000 Funded by the Henry J Lamb Scholarship Fund
$1000 Funded by the Frank and Margaret Heran Trust and awarded as two $500 Scholarships
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the award you must be a member or child or grandchild of a member of one of the eight participating member yacht clubs and you must be accepted to pursue education beyond the secondary school level at an institution deemed accredited by the Scholarship Fund Committee. High school seniors and college undergraduates are eligible for the award.
Scholarship Format
This year’s scholarship will be awarded on an Essay. The essay must be 500 words or less. All essays will be submitted to the QBRWA Scholarship Committee for review. The winning essay will be announced at the QBRWA Race Week Junior Awards Ceremony.

Scholarship Details
Thank you for your interest in applying for the Quincy Bay Race Week Association Scholarship. Each year the number and amount of scholarships are announced at the March QBRWA Member Meeting.
The officers and trustees of the association hope to continue to offer a scholarship each year to help promote and strengthen QBRWA in the boating community.

Frank and Margaret Heran Scholarship – $ 500
Lyndsay Bekerian, Metropolitan Yacht Club, attending University of MA Amherst and majoring in Finance

Austin Hollander, Wessagussett Yacht Club, attending Plymouth State University and majoring in Marketing and Entrepreneurship

Is the scholarship open to the public?

Who are the essay judges?
Members of the Quincy Bay Race Week Board of Directors vote to determine the scholarship winners.
Who chooses the topic?
Members of the eight participating yacht clubs can make submit scholarship essay ideas top the QBRWA Board of Directors. The BOD will pick a topic from those submitted.
Do the winners get to keep the "big check"?
Yes! Hang it proudly on your wall or fridge for all to see!
